which claimed Rev. Lester O. Heisey, 68, Brethren minister for
42 years at his home at Potsdam, Wednesday at 9:20p.m. While
engaged in trimming a tree at his home Rev. Heisey's ladder
rested on the porch roof, beneath which a yellow jackets' nest
was concealed. He received approximately 20 pierces by this
specie of the wasp family. Rev. Heisey went to bed and a
physician was called, treating the injuries which proved fatal.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Potsdam
Church of the Brethren in charge of Rev. Lawrence Kreider of
Covington, assisted by Rev. J. P. Robbins, Rev. Herbert Parker,
Rev. Herbert Parker, and Rev. S. A. Blessing. The remains were
interred in the Potsdam cemetery, directed by Roy H. Miller
Funeral home. Rev. Heisey was ordained as a pastor in the
Church of The Brethren in the West Milton church 42 years ago.
For more than 30 years he engaged in evangelistic and
missionary work, two churches at Rock House and at Wolf Creek,
Ky., were named for him because of his missionary effort.
More recently, Rev. Heisey was affiliated with The Dunkard
Brethren and held membership in the Englewood church of that
denomination.
The deceased was a son of the late Albert and Susannah Kreider
Heisey and his birth occurred near Phillipsburg Dec. 17, 1881.
He followed the carpenter trade practically all his life which
was lived in this area.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs Maude Heisey, six daughters,
Mrs. Velma Shearer, Laura, R. 1; Mrs Dorothy Boomershine, Mrs.
Ruth Wissinger, Mrs. Susie Clegg, Lewisburg, Mrs. Lova
Shuttleworth, Greenville; Mrs. Naomi Petry, Potsdam; a
step-son, Harry Smith, Fostoria; six brothers, Chalmer,
Brookville; Walter, Grundy Center, Iowa; Jesse, Wm. and John,
Dayton C.R. and a sister, Carrie, Upland, Calif; 16
