1. Jacob Guth\Good Sr. was born in 1760 in Germany and died from circa 1800 to 1858 at age 40.

Jacob Guth (Good), Sr., of Pittston Twp., a native of Northampton Co., PA. was married to the widow of Melchoir Hay, Jr. She was a daughter of Henry Bush of Easton, PA. Melchoir Hay, Jr., son of Melchoir Hay, Sr., the latter a resident of Williams Twp., Northampton Co., PA., in 1758 and named in the Horse and Wagon Census of that year, had at the time of his death at least one son, Henry Hay, a minor over 14 years of age, August 25, 1806. On that date, Jacob Guth (Good) petitioned the Orphan's Court at Wilkes-Barre, Pa., praying that a guardian might be appointed for Henry Hay and reciting that a legacy of 40 had been left to him by his grandfather Melchoir Hay. In Cooper Cemetery there may be found the grave of Elizabeth, born 1794 and died November 18, 1848, wife of Henry Hay, and also, those of Samuel Hay, born November 19, 1816, died August 5, 1849, and James Hay, born April 9, 1826, died March 15, 1856, doubtless children of Henry and Elizabeth Hay. August 26, 1806, Jacob Guth, Jr. presented a petition to the court asking that a guardian be appointed for him, and reciting that a legacy of 70 had been left to him by his grandfather, Henry Bush of Easton, Pa.
Found on the back of an old business card from the Guthsville Hotel was written Oct. 20, 1952, to Phila from Rotterdam, Jacob, John Michael, and Johan Guth. 1762 John Michael settled in Nochanixon, Pa. Macungi, 1751 Zuerbruchenin Alsace, upper Province Bavaria Hons Jacob
Jacob was a native of Germany, but served in the army of his adopted country during the Revolutionary struggle, proving himself a good soldier and a loyal citizen. After he returned to a life of peace he located across the river from Wyoming, where he resided for a number of years. He was a worthy man of good moral principles which he practiced during his entire life. His family consisted of seven children, all of whom are deceased. Re: History of Luzerne County, page 932.
He appeared on the census in 1820 in Pittston Twp., Luzerne Co., PA.
Found in the Oaths of Allegiance, Northampton Co., PA, 1777-1784 an entry of a Jacob Guth, May 31, 1778.
Jacob married Anna Maria Bush, daughter of Henry Bush and Anna Marie Unknown, in 1790. Anna was born on Jan 19, 1764 and died in 1795 at age 31.

3 M ii. Abraham Guth was born on Mar 20, 1794.
Jacob next married Margaret Seyfert, daughter of George Henry Seyfert and Unknown, about 1796. Margaret was born in 1756.
